Six decades adding value to the Canarian economy

Corporate Social Responsibility

Corporate Social Responsibility is a commitment which has been absorbed by the shareholders of the Capisa Group, by the Management and by all the employees of the different companies in the Group. This is a constant reference in internal communication and is widely mentioned among the staff involved in action in this sphere.

The challenge is now to unify the Corporate Social Responsibility Policies of all the companies by means of a certain number of basic values of which all their members must be aware and, from that point on, to review and, if applicable, implement the relevant policies of Business Responsibility.

Business commitment for 2017

The actions of business responsibility are made explicit in two ways:

On the one hand, with the internal policies of the Capisa Group and all its companies promoting ongoing training, environmental protection, energy responsibility and transparency.

On the other hand, externally, by means of collaboration agreements and the delivery of funds or gifts or product, as the case may be, to organisations and groups whose work and effectiveness is beyond all doubt. The educational sphere and the guarantee of the fundamental rights of the individual, like food or assistance to refugees are programmes which are receiving support in 2017.

By way of summary, the actions are made explicit in collaboration agreements with Radio ECCA in both provinces of the Canary Islands, the Food Bank of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Fundación Tutelar Sonsoles Soriano, the Spanish Commission for Aid to Refugees, Fundación Barrios Orquestados and the Canarian Museum.

The Capisa Group supports the educational work of Radio ECCA in both Canarian provinces. This educational centre, which has been operating in the Canary Islands since 1965, uses the radio and ICTs to carry out its work. It has its own system of teaching, the ECCA system, in which it uses the teaching material, the broadcast audio class and ICTs to carry out its work. In the course of history, over two million people have registered to take part in one of their training activities in different regions of Spain. In the same way, via institutional alliances, Radio ECCA is active in Latin America and West Africa.

The Fundación Tutelar Sonsoles Soriano is occupied with guaranteeing support which, by reason of mental deficiency, may be needed by persons with disability in all aspects of life, respecting their rights, their will and their preferences. The Fundación acts as the Defender in Law or Guardian and only when Judges have not found relatives who are more suitable for these positions. And so, as a charitable Fundación Tutelar, by judicial designation, it makes itself responsible for people with a mental disability in a situation of helplessness or abandonment in the Canarian Region

The Spanish Commission for Aid to Refugees is an NGO which is independent of all political and ideological links, of which the purpose is the defence of political asylum and protection of refugees, beneficiaries of subsidiary protection, and displaced persons and immigrants in a situation of vulnerability.

In the Canaries, it gives services of legal assistance, psycho-social attention and advice to refugees as well as services of employment and training.

Fundación Barrios Orquestados. This is a social project of a pedagogical nature with artistic purposes. The project aims to create orchestras of bowed string instruments (violins, violas, cellos and double bass) in all the suburban districts of the capital of each island in the Canaries that has special needs at the social and cultural level and where culture arrives in a diluted form or simply fails to arrive at all for a variety of reasons.
